Alimo Studio Notes #53 [ New print drop available now + new paintings for Greenroom Festival]
Excited to release a new limited edition print 'Offline Today' + new work in the studio
What’s up friends!
Happy Friday and happy mid-April. I’m in a coffee shop right now doing a little admin, getting out of the space from painting, and getting some fresh air for the day. This week has been super productive painting. Trying out new techniques and getting some super rad results. A cool example is the above painting and some wild brushstrokes. I discovered a new way of getting these smooth beveled lines. This was one of those happy accidents that unlocked a whole new experience on how to paint. Really happy discovering this.
Earlier this week, I dropped a new limited edition print - Offline Today that is now available in the shop. This has been a request, as the original painting sold. Excited to have this available for everyone.
Highlights:
-A few more new paintings
-Sketchbook
-New print in shop - Offline Today
That new new 🎉
I took on a new challenge, painting this onsen scene below. This was a huge learning curve for me. Playing around with water ripples and rocks was something very new for me. While I still have a ton to learn here, I'm happy with the results. There are some really neat brushstrokes in the water I haven’t done before, like the reflections that I’m digging.
I’ve also been taking time learning trees. This has been a wild learning curve on simplifying with subtle shading without getting too detailed. Can’t wait to see where this progresses.
Sketchbook
A few quick studies in the morning before jumping over to canvas. With this new body of work, I’ve actually been stepping away from my sketchbook and moving directly to canvas. That being said, I still love my daily practice in my book. It’s so loose and fun.
New print / Framed print Available!
I recently dropped a new limited edition print ‘Offline Today’ in the shop. This 1st edition, limited to 100 prints, is now available. This was from my previous solo show ‘Everydays’ at Greenroom Gallery. The original has been sold. Grab your print while they are available.
Sasha Stiles
New exhibit by Sahsha Stiles at Offline Gallery, using poetry with generative writing, was out of this world cool.
That is all folks. See you next week :)
