Alimo Studio Notes #8 [Art Charity & Commissions + New Interview]
LREI Art charity event, commission finished + Waves & Woods Magazine spread + interview
Hey friends, Happy Friday!
We are back for another fun weekly recap. This week in NYC, the weather has been low 70’s and as good as it gets. Folks are out, restaurants are setting tables outside, and vibes are high. It's also been a productive week for me in the studio. This type of weather is perfect b/c I can get to the studio fast, I don’t get a crazy fomo of not being outside when it’s too hot or too cold either. Loving it.
At the beginning of the week, I mainly focused on finishing my commission. This painting has been a lot of fun, a bit longer than normal, only b/c I was in Switzerland on another project. Always juggling projects over here. As always, been drawing quite a bit in my sketchbook filling up so many fun ideas.
Lets jump into the recap for the week!
Commission finished!
I just finished up my recent private commission mid-week. I really enjoyed painting this one up. It’s always fun to work with a collector, brainstorm together ideas, and watch a full painting come to fruition. The ideas always change so much from the beginning and it’s really fun to see it morph.
I’ll share out final photos likely in a few weeks. The photographer I work with is out on a shoot and won’t be in the studio to help out. In the meantime here’s a little zoomed-in view :) This painting is 36x48” in. acrylic on canvas.
LREI Art Charity event
This past Wednesday, I participated in the 2025 LREI (Little Red School House & Elisabeth Irwin High School) Art Party & Auction at kurimanzutto New York, and we are currently soliciting artwork for our silent auction.
This was super fun! Over 500 gala tickets and nearly all the paintings sold! Unreal support. I haven’t been part of charities like this before and was super cool to participate.
I ended up donating an older piece ‘Rest Day’ that was painted out here in NYC. It felt like a great fit for the cause and thrilled by the outcome. Shout out to Fillin Global for helping out with bringing some of our squad out to the event.
New Waves and Woods Magazine + Alimo interview
Super stoked to finally share my Waves and Woods magazine spread. Their new issue #41 just came out. We had a really fun interview and I ended up getting an 8-page spread in the mag! Soooo rad!
I’m currently waiting for the magazine to arrive in the mail. Once I get that I’ll share more out. In the meantime, snag a copy now. You can buy both the digital or the physical magazine. Huge shoutout to the magazine for taking the time to interview me and spotlight my art.
More sketching :)
No surprise here, but almost finished with my Switzerland sketchbook. So many rad ideas in here from my trip with Swatch. While we still are figuring out what to do with this book, fun sharing out with ya’ll :)
What’s next?
Painting…and working on next projects + collections. Lots in the works, but priority is truly painting and getting ideas on canvas for ya’ll.
Shoutout ❤️
Tomorrow in NYC, there’s a cool Earth Day Mural fest. Lots of friends will be painting at the event and will stop by to support. Wish I had a wall, but all good. Love supporting.
